I don't have EQ or EQ2 to test with here. Can any players that use Multiplicity let me know if they are still having issues with the latest version of Multiplicity?

I play 2 accounts of eq2 on a vista 32 and vista 64 with multiplicity. Works great in the way it is supposed to, but not in the way I hoped it would. Let me clarify.

PRO -All features stated work like they should, it moves smoothly from one to another, is essentially transparent and I love it.

CON -I have a G15 keyboard. Basically, among other things, its got this massive bank of keys which you can set to be a macro. In theory you would have a setup like:
comp1 - tank character, main control

comp2 - healer, character 1 targeted, on auto follow, heal spell hotkey is #1

Now, you want to be able to control character 1 but be able to cast a heal spell without switching, just hit a keyboard button. So, you set a macro on the g15 keyboard to do the following:
1. press and release multiplicity hotkeys for monitor switch to comp 2
2. press the #1 button and release
3. press and release multiplicity hotkeys for monitor switch to comp 1

The problem is, switching takes quite a while (from a macros view), and the time is extreamly variable. I havent been able to put enough pauses in place to ensure that it works consistently without having to wait 3 seconds or so for it to be done. A problem if you want your off character to also nuke, and they have a few heals, etc etc.

What I guess I wish it would do is be able to cause a non "hot" computer to get the signal to press/release the #1 key without having to switch. Basically push the control to the other comp. To my knowledge there isnt a way to do this yet, so controlling two characters is rather difficult and you get very little added from the second.

All in all a fantastic prog that I am incredably happy with and suggest to others, just doesnt quite hit the mark for my 2boxing desires. (not to mention 6 boxing)

I will make sure the developers see your post. Thanks for the info!

I use Multiplicity Pro with EQ and have a small but annoying issue.

My set up is as follows: Primary PC is running Vista 64. Secondary PC runs Windows XP.

The problem is a bit odd initially it all works perfect on EQ. When I go from Primary to Secondary and visa versa I tend to 2 box and run 1 version of EQ on each PC. They both are running in Windows have tried full screen but still get same problem.

The problem basically occurs totally random it will work fine for a few mins then all of a sudden. You go from doing something on Secondary back to Primary and you loose all control EQ on the Primary PC. Everything outside the EQ window is fine I can minimize max etc. Just can not do anything inside the EQ window so no mouse or keyboard controls at all. Only way to fix it is close the EQ window and restart the EQ client.

This problem also happens if you just say web browsing on the secondary machine or doing something else. It makes no difference what is running.

Strangest thing it only seems to cause problems on the Primary. I have run EQ just on the Secondary screen and never had any issues.

Multiplicity works flawless with everything other than EQ for me. It is annoying but Multiplicity is such a great program I could not imagine using 2 PCs again with out it.

Thummper, not sure if this will help at all. But the way I used to box EQ2 was with an external USB Keypad. I plug that into the Secondary PC and put it by the Primary Keyboard.

That way you can map spells etc to the keys on the keypad. Press what ever key to cast what ever spell. With no delay as its essentially connected directly to the Second PC works pretty well. I think you can set up Follow etc all with in EQ2 as well. So you then just press another keypad key and it will auto follow.

I just bought Multiplicity for use primarily with original EQ and while it does *work* I wouldn't say that it works *well*. Probably not well enough for everyday use.

Basic details:
Primary: XP Home SP2 (generic PC, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, Gigabyte MB, 2GB RAM)
Secondary: Vista Home Premium SP1 (HP Pavilion DV6700 laptop, Centrino, Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM)
Multiplicity 1.21

Right now I'm running EQ on the secondary and find that the connection between the systems is repeatedly being lost then regained when I do certain actions. These mainly consist of changes to window layering - clicking on the EQ task bar when it is behind something, or clicking on the Vista taskbar when EQ is running. It also happens several times while EQ is starting up (for example when transitioning from the server select window to the character select window.)

When I do this Multiplicity on the primary indicates that the connection to the secondary has been lost, then immediately that the connection has been reestablished. The connection lost message typically occurs after several seconds of nonresponse on both primary and secondary.

It must be said that the same sort of actions also freeze the secondary when using the KB/mouse on the secondary itself. However I don't recall these issues occurring before Multiplicity was installed.

It's possible this is a Vista thing rather than an EQ thing. Hard for me to say.

Ronny.

Try the beta through Impulse. It is at version 1.21.016.

Thoes actions shouldn't cause Multipliticy to lose connection. Security software or anti cheat Sony software could do that perhaps. The update is worth a shot. Let me know if it works for you. If not try disabling any security software or the UAC if you have it on.

What's Impulse? A search for Impulse on Stardock showed a couple of references to Impulse drive in Galciv but nothing else.

I've actually unloaded (but not yet uninstalled) Multiplicity at the moment after an incident where I completely lost keyboard and mouse control of both of my systems when I moved to a new zone in EQ when controlling the secondary system. Then when I came back, they keyboard did not respond on either system for another minute or two (and in EQ on the master the keyboard wasn't working at all - I had to restart the client).

Personally I agree that the problem is probably with Everquest - after all the program is nine years old and has never been terribly system friendly - so I suspect it's not something Stardock can fix.

I'll try the patch as soon as I figure out how to download it but for now I'm only using Multiplicity +EQ in very controlled circumstances. Mainly, I'm not zoning on my second system with remote control active, and I'm swapping systems by edging the mouse very carefully from one system to the other. :-/

There still seems to be a problem with EQ 1 with the newest version, it still locks up the EQ client(it is still running, but doesn't accept keyboard or mouse clicks).
As far as i can see, EQ 2 runs fine though.

I hope you can find the problem with EQ 1, as it is most of the reason i bought Multiplicity.

There is an update to Multiplicity through Impulse. You can try that one. If you are using settings on EQ that captures the mouse it can sometimes freeze the screen. To avoid that play in windowed mode. What OS are you using for these troubles? Also what service pack?

Seabass, can you please elaborate on this statement? I have been having this problem on older versions and am about to try the new version on impulse but do not understand what you mean by this. I do not know of any settings in EQ that captures the mouse.

Thank you.

When a game goes full screen and captures the mouse (meaning that it locks it to that program and that program alone) you often will have troubles with reclaiming the mouse to and fro the computers.

If EQ 1 or 2 have windowed modes (where the mouse can enter or exit the game) you can clear this issue.

You can also go into the settings to set hot keys to quick switch the mouse to one or the other machine. So you could have F1 be your secondary and F2 the primary and so on. Give these two ideas a try and let me know how it goes.
