As an update to all a correction to the "Every time it starts up it asks for activation" has been published to Impulse. SDC is due later today.
The individual icon troubles are still at large and in testing. Just letting you know we are working on it.

The new update seems to have fixed the activation issue in Packager and Icon Explorer. It will change individual icons if you copy the activate.exe into C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Stardock\IconPackager and activate the product. But then you have to reactivate the others. and the circle starts over again. Will waite for the next fix. Thanks

I, again, thought I had the "Can't find...Activate.exe" problem solved for me. Then I went in to Impulse last nite and DL'd the new version - .166. Right back to the 'Can't find..." when trying to change individual icons. I did find the archive/backup file (I think) so how do I go about reverting to that saved version from the new one? Can't find any thing on how to do so in either Impulse or SDC.

If this posts twice - sorry... I thought I had the 'can't find..activate.exe' prob solved - at least for me - when I switched from Norton to McAfee. Any way, last nite I went in to Impulse and dl'd the latest IconPackager update (4.00.166) and the problems back. How do I revert to the prior version? I think I've found the 'hackup' file, but how to I activate it? Can't find any think in either Impulse or SDC to do so.

hallv5 - That bug is still current. It is at the forefront of things slated for update. The last few updates were all based around activation issues. The developers are currently working on the fix for individual icons and a few smaller bugs that have cropped up. The moment it is tested and ready it will be available through Impulse.

hallv5 open IP and revert back to reg. windows icons. Uninstall the product IP4. Then go to shared folders [stardock/iconpackager] and move it to another location for a backup. Restart the computer and reinstall IP4.

As in the other forum, tried that with no success. Even with the very most basic IP setup still getting the prob.

Well every fix for every type of machine out there has to be addressed in testing before release. My apologies for the wait. Please know that it is at the forefront of development.

No problem. Know you'll get to the bottom of it sooner or later. Fwiw, have two systems. Both XP Pro SP3. Works on neither. Would there be a possibility of posting (some where) an older, known stable, version for those of us who are still having problems to revert to if we wish?

Start of Rant:
Been told that these issues are being addressed and are on the forefront of development for nearly a month now.... yet impulse seems to be taking up most of this development time from all the yahoo about it.. rant, rant, rant.
I really expect my product to work as advertised and don't see that Impulse is really going to be much point if the programs we buy and download through it don't function as advertised.... which IP4 just isn't doing.
I'm rarely forced to look at the marvelous new Impulse interface but have to confront the hideous CD ROM default icons on my customized GUI (which I cant change despite a couple hours of trying).
So much for activation being of no inconvenience to the legit end-user!
FIX IT!
End of rant.
